Most of my information is on my other blog: Judy Bowman’s Writer’s Blog or should I say Judy Bowman’s Writer’s Bloq. I am a published writer in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. My work has appeared in international anthologies, and in literary magazines. In 2008, I was awarded by my readers of my column and features, Readers’ Choice Award for Favourite Journalist. I was nominated for the Atlantic Newspapers” Freelance Writing Award for a story about a M’ik M’aq man who was torn from his family at the age of 4 to go to residential schools.
Several of my short stories have placed in various competitions and been published.
Currently, I am the regional representative for the Writers’Federation of New Brunswick. In the past, I served on the board and sat one term as president.
Recently, I’ve been offering and facilitating writing and creativity workshops as well as taking on the role of Alzheimer Disease Educator for the local chapter of the Canadian Alzheimer Society. I love a microphone and having the floor.
So now that the brag is over, I started this blog to write about the ways in which I am trying to answer the deep and wild call from within by honouring my dreams and the writing I do as a result of these dreams and living in rural New Brunswick. Who knows how long a life can last? I don’t want to miss one bloom of my hollyhocks or the mass sung by ravens in summer. This is where I hope to bear witness to my life, family and my community.
